The American Bar Association will host an event at the Ritz Carlton in Washington, D.C. on June 25, 2015 that will cover regulation and law for Bitcoin and other digital currencies.
“The program will analyze the latest events in regulatory compliance and law enforcement efforts directed at digital currency,” wrote the Association in their announcement. “The panel will explore what regulators and law enforcement officials are focused on, and the different types of enforcement mechanisms employed on both the state and federal levels.”
Headquartered in Chicago, The American Bar Association has close to 400,000 members and provides legal resources to its members, a mix of lawyers, law students, and others interested in the law and the legal profession, according to their website. The association hosts events that are open to members as well as the public.
This event is not the ABA’s first foray into Bitcoin education. In fact, their website has been publishing legal advice regarding bitcoin acceptance for quite some time, including a series of articles that covered how to accept Bitcoins as payments in small law firms.
